Scripture for the Day: Hebrews 10:24-25
“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
Some Christians attend church faithfully, while others argue that since we can commune privately with God, church is an outdated notion that doesn’t mean anything. But in his letter to the Hebrews, the writer above explains just how important regularly getting together with other Christians is.
Starting each week with church grounds you be giving you a firm basis in scripture for the rest of your week. It’s a reminder of what is truly important in God’s eyes. Starting your week with praise and worship is uplifting. Worship is also a form of sacrifice – you are giving yourself over to God each Sunday, acknowledging His central role in your life.
Congregatingwith other Christians also allows us to help each other and uphold each other in times of crisis. If you attend church regularly, you will be surrounded by a strong family of believers in times of trouble. Without a church family, you may stumble and fall or turn to non-Christians who will lead you away from God.
Prayer Suggestion: Thank the Lord for the opportunity to meet and become friends with others in a Christian setting each week. Renew your resolve to sacrifice a few hours each week to the Lord by attending church regularly.
