How to Believe in God

There are many in this world who doesn’t believe in existence of God and claim that they are atheist or unbelievers of God. In my point of view I just want to bring in a truth that they are called as atheist or unbelievers because there should be a thing that should exist that is the reason why they have been atheist. Since there is a God there is atheist. So even for the atheist they need to believe God, to claim that there is no God.

People believe in several things and claims whatever they believe or image as God. Some even make animals as God, Some even stones as God. Most people believe in God but they have their faith or belief over something that isn’t God. How to Believe in God who is true?

Having Faith

To believe in God the vital and basic thing which you need to hold on very strongly is to have faith that there is someone who is supernatural than human being.

Our relationship with God is similar to our relationship with others in that all relationships require faith. We can never fully know any other person. We cannot experience all they experience nor enter into their minds to know what their thoughts and emotions are.

If we cannot know our fellow finite human beings fully, how can we expect to fully know an infinite God? Even if He should desire to fully reveal Himself, it is impossible for us to fully know Him. It is like trying to pour the ocean (seemingly infinite in quantity) into a quart-measuring jar (finite)… impossible! Nonetheless, even as we can have meaningful relationships with others that we have grown to trust because of our knowledge of them and of their character, so God has revealed enough about Himself through His creation (Romans 1:18-21), through His written Word, the Bible (2 Timothy 3:16-17;2 Peter 1:16-21), and through His Son (John 14:9), that we can enter into a meaningful relationship with Him. So faith is what which interlinks or bridges man to God.

Having Hope

God knows the future.  In times of trails your faith and hopes gets shaken but give up your hope and belief in Jesus the Christ who is besides you at the times of struggles. You are not the only one that has felt that there is no hope.  There are several bible heroes had faced hard times when they tried to give up their hope.  Job, Moses, Jonah, Jeremiah, even the powerful prophet in the Old Testament, Elijah.

Humans come up with their own definitions when it comes to Hope which are different from God’s.  However the biblical definition of hope is not a hope-so but a know-so.  Our hope in God is surer than the sun rising in the morning.  Read through these words of God and put yourself or your own name in the place of “I” or “we”. Psalm 119:74 “I have put my hope in your word”, in Psalm 119:81 “… I have put my hope in your word”, and in Psalm 130:5  “… in his word (The Bible) I put my hope”.

Here is real hope.  When a person reads the Word of God (Bible) and believe God they can know for certain that they have a secure and certain future for God will never allow us to suffer beyond our own capabilities to handle it.  There is nothing on this earth more certain than hope in God.  He will never leave us nor will He ever forsake us.  He is our anchor in the present and for the future.

Having Trust

The main reason we should trust God is that He is worthy of our trust. Unlike men, He never lies and never fails to fulfill His promises. “God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?” (Numbers 23:19; Psalm 89:34). Unlike men, He has the power to bring to pass what He plans and purposes to do.

Do Your Part to Promote the Peace of God

Reading for the day:  Matthew 5:38-47

“…You have heard it said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’  But I tell you, ‘Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you that you may be sons of your Father in heaven…”

Jesus asks us to forget about the Old Testament adage to love our friends and hate our enemies.  Instead, we are asked to love our enemies.  This can be a difficult thing to do even when we are surrounded by those we love.  It isn’t easy to love those who are cruel to us or who have hurt those we care about.

Sometimes it seems that even those close to us, the people we love the most, have turned into enemies.  Perhaps you’re fighting with your spouse or your child is being defiant; perhaps your boss has in some way betrayed all of the time, effort and hard work you’ve given him.  This is when it is most important to love those we perceive as enemies, whether they are friends, family or strangers.

We don’t get to choose our enemies, and we don’t get to choose whom we will love.  God has told us to love everyone, friend and foe alike.  Try this week to remember the importance of loving others in spite of who or what they are.  Reach out to them and show them love.  It may change things, it may not.  But the result isn’t what counts – the act of loving them is what God seeks from us.  That love for others is a reflection of our love of God and His Creation.  Do you part today to promote His peace by loving all those you encounter.

Prayer Suggestion:  Ask God to give you the grace to love others no matter what.  If you are in a struggle with another person, forget about praying to get your own way and simply pray for God’s love to touch both of you.

Christian Youth: Believe in God to Use You to Do Extraordinary Things

There is no such thing as the wrong side of the tracks with God.  I think it was Jim Collins who wrote the book “Good to Great,” which said, “It is a sin to be good when you can be great.”  The power of God is unlimited.  God is not limited in any way by your education, economic status, race or social standing.  Those are artificial limitations that only matter to the world, not to the Lord.

If you say, “God, I am available to You and I submit and surrender to Your will for my life,” something amazing will start to happen in your life because God will use you to do His will and purpose.  God will take the ordinary and turn it into the extraordinary!  Develop a habit of being what God knows you can be and surrender fully to His will.  Remember that His view is the long view of the world and His goals are not focused on the little picture.  God can do extraordinary things using ordinary people in seemingly small ways.

There was a young girl at the turn of the century outside of Philadelphia who was crying near a small church when the pastor walked by.   When he asked her what was wrong, she sobbed that there hadn’t been enough room in the Sunday School class for her.  Seeing her filthy clothes, the pastor guessed that she may have been turned away for other reasons.  He marched her back in and found a place for her in the class.  She listened and loved the Bible stories she heard each Sunday after that.

Two years later, the little girl died. When the pastor came to make final arrangements, he discovered a coin purse with her belongings.  Inside the coin purse was 57 cents and a slip of paper that said, “To make the church bigger so more kids can go to the Sunday School.”

The pastor told the girl’s story that Sunday in church, and challenged his deacons to raise enough money to build a bigger church.  The newspapers picked up the story.  And a realtor offered a parcel of land worth thousands of dollars to build the church on.  When told that the church couldn’t afford the asking price, he offered to sell it to them for 57 cents.

It would seem impossible to build a church with 57 cents, but that didn’t stop one little girl from trying to create a miracle.  Today you can go to Temple Baptist church of Philadelphia and Temple University.  Go visit the Sunday School building next to Good Samaritan Hospital, where there is more than enough room for everyone.  In one room you will see the picture of a young girl who started it all with 57 cents.  Alongside it is the picture of the Reverend Dr. Russell Conwell, who multiplied that 57 cents through countless others.

God had taken the very ordinary donation of a poor child, less than a dollar, and turned it into something extraordinary!  It became the driving force that turned the heart of a landowner, motivated the revival of a church and eventually founded a University!  All because an ordinary young minister made sure an ordinary young girl went to Sunday School one ordinary morning.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
–   Philippians 4:13

God always sees what is inside of us.  We all have gifts, talents and opportunities that He can shape into miraculous moments.  We must stop looking at what we don’t have and start looking at what God can do in our lives. Believe in God to use you to do extraordinary things in life.
